Primary Government Contract Types There are three primary types of government contracts: fixed price, cost reimbursable and time and materials. Fixed price contracts have a negotiated price that remains the same over the life of the contract so the amount you will be paid remains the same. Cost reimbursable contracts involve the government paying for the actual cost to complete the work. Cost reimbursable contracts have a variety of schemes for providing a fee or profit to the contractor. Time and materials contracts have agreed to rates for labor and materials that do not change over the contract and are billed as incurred. Time and materials contracts can have annual escalation rates incorporated in them to reflect increasing costs. Cost Plus Incentive Fee (CPIF) A cost plus incentive fee contract is one where the vendor is reimbursed for costs incurred plus fee based on a formula tied to costs. The fee formula can vary and is normally designed to encourage the contractor to keep costs down. Cost Plus Award Fee (CPAF) A cost reimbursement contract where the objectives of the contract are determined to be completed by subjective means. The contractor receives reimbursement for their costs plus the award fee. Cost plus award fee contracts can not be used when cost plus fixed fee or cost plus incentive fee contract would be more appropriate. Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF) A cost plus fixed fee contract reimburses the contractor for the cost incurred to complete the work plus a negotiated fixed fee. The fee does not change based on cost of the work. Cost is calculated based on actual amounts paid for labor and materials plus fringes, overhead and general and administrative rates. Fringe, overhead and general and administrative rates are computed annually and reflect the actual corporate costs. Many government contracts are cost reimbursable. Firm Fixed Price or FFP contracts have detailed requirements and a price for the work. The price is negotiated before the contract is finalized and does not vary even if the contractor needs to expend more or less resources than planned. Firm fixed price contracts require the contractor to manage the costs of the work in order to make a profit. If more work than planned is required then the contractor may lose money on the contract unless a contract modification is obtained. Firm fixed price contracts can also be more profitable if costs are closely managed. Fixed Price Contract With Incentive Fee Target (FPIF) The fixed price contract with incentive fee contract is a firm fixed price type contract (as compared to a cost reimbursable). The fee can vary depending on whether the contract comes in above or below planned cost. These contracts do contain a ceiling price to limit the government’s exposure to cost overruns. Fixed Price With Economic Price Adjustment Fixed price with economic price adjustment contracts are fixed price contracts but they contain a provision to account for contingencies and changing costs. An example is the contract may contain an adjustment for an annual salary increase. Time Materials contracts have rates negotiated before contract award for the cost by labor category and materials. As work is completed the contractor bills against the rates agreed to in the contract regardless of the actual cost. Know which contract type is planned in advance of submitting a proposal as well as during contract negotiations. Knowing the contract type allows you to plan the project and how best to manage it for success. Before a company can get a cost reimbursable contract it must have an approved accounting system.

The Pearl Quotes Explained The  Pearl  by John Steinbeck is a novel about an impoverished young diver, Kino, who finds a pearl of extraordinary beauty and value. Hardly believing his luck, Kino believes the pearl will bring his family fortune and fulfill his dreams of a better future. But as the old adage goes, be careful of what you wish for. In the end, the pearl unleashes tragedy on Kino and his family. Here are quotes from The Pearl  that illustrate Kinos rising hope, overreached ambition, and, finally, destructive greed. The Pearl Quotes Analyzed And, as with all retold tales that are in peoples hearts, there are only good and bad things and black and white things and good and evil things and no in-between. If this story is a parable, perhaps everyone takes his own meaning from it and reads his own life into it. Found within the prologue, this quote reveals how The Pearls plot is not entirely original to Steinbeck. In fact, it is a known story that is often told, perhaps like a folk legend. And as with most parables, there is a moral to this story.   When Kino had finished, Juana came back to the fire and ate her breakfast. They had spoken once, but there is not need for speech if it is only a habit anyway. Kino sighed with satisfaction- and that was conversation. From Chapter 1, these words paint Kino, the main character, and Juanas lifestyle as unembellished and quiet. This scene depicts Kino as simple and wholesome before he discovers the pearl.   But the pearls were accidents, and the finding of one was luck, a little pat on the back by God or the gods both. Kino is diving for pearls in Chapter 2. The act of finding pearls represents the notion that events in life are not actually up to man, but rather chance or a higher power.   Luck, you see, brings bitter friends. These ominous words in Chapter 3 spoken by Kinos neighbors foreshadow how the discovery of the pearl can harbor a troublesome future.   For his dream of the future was real and never to be destroyed, and he had said, I will go, and that made a real thing too. To determine to go and to say it was to be halfway there. Unlike the deference to the gods and chance in an earlier quote, this quote from Chapter 4 shows how Kino is now taking, or at least trying to take, full control of his future. This raises the question: is it chance or self-agency that determines ones life? This pearl has become my soul... If I give it up, I shall lose my soul. Kino utters these words in Chapter 5, revealing how he is consumed by the pearl and the materiality and greed it represents.   And then Kinos brain cleared from its red concentration and he knew the sound- the keening, moaning, rising hysterical cry from the little cave in the side of the stone mountain, the cry of death. This quote in Chapter 6 describes the climax of the book and reveals what the pearl has wrought for Kino and his family.   And the music of the pearl drifted to a whisper and disappeared. Kino finally escapes the siren call of the pearl, but what does it take for him to change?

Steve comes down with a bruise on his forehead; Stanley tells Steve that Eunice has gone to a neighbourhood bar and Steve rushes out to find her. †¢Stanley then questions Blanche. He says that he has a friend in Laurel who claims that Blanche was a guest at a disreputable hotel named ‘The Flamingo’, Blanche denies the claims and Stanley leaves. Steve and Eunice return, Eunice sobbing and Steve trying to make it up to her. †¢Blanche is shaken. She asks if Stella has heard any rumours about her; Stella is perplexed by Blanche’s behaviour. Blanche admits that she â€Å"wasn’t so good† during the last couple of years; she sought comfort with men. She insinuates that she was sexually intimate with these men, but Stella has stopped listening because Blanche begins to become so morbid. Blanche is clearly on edge at this point. †¢Stella fixes Blanche a drink. Blanche gushes with emotion and affection for Stella; Stella is embarrassed by Blanche’s sentimentality. †¢Stella and Blanche talk about Mitch. Blanche will be going out with him later that night. Blanche is quite taken with him. She hopes that their relationship can go somewhere. Stella leaves for an outing with Stanley. Eunice bounds out of the apartment, shrieking with laughter and Steve chases after her. †¢A young man comes to collect for the paper. Blanche flirts with him with shocking forwardness. The young man, a boy probably not out of his teens, seems nervous and excited at the same time; finally she kisses him, and then sends him on his way. †¢Mitch comes with a dozen roses, and Blanche accepts them, but mocking him at the same time. Scene 5 Analysis †¢The theme of illusion runs through this scene, and we begin to see how the past is catching up with Blanche. Stanley is learning of her past, and her old desires are coming back to haunt her. †¢We watch Blanche fabricate a series of lies in her telegraph to Shep Huntley. She has no uncertainties; the truth is less interesting than the illusion she offers, so why not? †¢Blanche is not the only character with some fears of truth. When she confesses to Stella about her behaviour in Laurel, Stella stops listening – whenever Blanche is morbid; this convenient ability to block out the truth foreshadows Stella’s betrayal of Blanche at the end of the play. †¢Dramatic tension created around a conflict between Stanley and Blanche – she recognises his entrance with nervous glances. †¢Blanche’s star sign is ironic – Virgo meaning ‘the virgin’ Does she want to reclaim her virginity and create a new life for herself? †¢Stanley’s star sign is Capricorn, known as ‘the ram’ Goats are supposed to be promiscuous and stubborn. He is both. Capricorn and Virgo are opposites – they either conflict or do opposites attract? †¢Stanley mentions his friend Shaw, and the tension escalates. This shows that he has been investigating Blanche. †¢Blanches illusions are quite fragile. Stanley upsets her by hinting that he knows the truth. She is rendered vulnerable by his attack; her lies have now isolated her. †¢Stanley has the last word – ‘clear up a mistake’ – he threatens to get proof and reveal the truth, leaving Blanche in panic. She starts making excuses and makes Stella suspicious. †¢Pathetic fallacy – thunder is foreboding for Blanche. †¢Afterward she gushes with emotion for Stella. The theme of loneliness, central to the play, is rendered skilfully in this scene. Stella is uncomfortable with these displays of emotion; they make her feel guilty because Stella is all that Blanche has in the world, and Stella herself has Stanley. †¢The soda spilling and foaming out the bottle is a metaphor for Blanche- it stains her white shirt, just as her purity is stained and how her past is irremovable, like the stain. It also represents her emotions spilling over, how she herself is out of control, and the way that the truth will spill out. †¢The local couples provide a contrast to Blanche’s less healthy outlets for her desires. †¢Steve and Eunice put Blanches fantasies into perspective – whilst she fabricates a life of cocktails and luncheons, they are a reality check. †¢Blanche cannot seem to recover from the convulsions of desire. She denounced the physicality of Stanley and Stella’s relationship, but suffers from a terrible loneliness, from which she seeks to escape in appropriate ways. Her advances at the young man are the first direct sign in the play, that she occasionally seeks desperate remedies for her loneliness. Blanche has been the lone observer of two happy couples: Stella and Stanley, Steve and Eunice. Left alone in the apartment, she seeks some connection with the first person she sees.

There was a Boar that lived on the farm his name was Old Major. He is twelve years old, had lately grown rather stout, majestic- looking pig, tushes never been cut, and wise and benevolent appearance. He sets up a meeting to discuss an important matter that happened to him the night before.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The discussion to place at night after Mr. Jones was asleep. In a barn is where all the animals had gather to listen to Old Major speech. Three dogs, a cat, pigeons, hens, pigs, cows, sheep’s, two horses named Clover, mother that never got her figure back after her fourth foal, the other named boxer, enormous beast, strong as two horses put together, white stripe down his nose, not very intelligent, respected for steadiness of character and tremendous powers of work, Muriel the goat, and Benjamin the donkey, the oldest animal on the farm and also the worst tempered. Topics of the meeting were that they do all the labor and get nothing back. Also says men are evil and that the animals should never adjust to their lifestyle. That is live in a house, sleep in bed, were clothes, drink alcohol, smoke tobacco, touch money, or engage in trade. An animal must not kill another animal. Last one was all animal are equal. All the animals agreed.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   This was his dream and the men were vanished. There was a song that he had forgot in from when he was little, but the dream reminded him the song. He sang the song that is called Beast of England. Eventually everyone knew the song. Then they went to sleep.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Three nights later Old Major pasted away. It’s now early March and a lot of secret activity has been happening for the past three months. They would have meetings after Mr. Jones was a sleep and ended the meeting with the song Beast of England.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  There were three pigs that elaborated Old Majors theory. They also called it Animalism. Out of the three pigs two of them were boars, first one named Napoleon, large, fierce- looking, and not much of a talker, but got everything his own way. The other boar was named Snowball, a vivacious pig, quicker in speech, and more inventive. Third one is a porker nam... ...ars has passed and most of the animals past away. The windmill was used for milling corn. One day all the pigs come out walking on to feet. Clover, she was old, stout mare now, stiff in the joints, and tendency to rheumy eyes was shocked. So was Benjamin, he just got a little grayer. Then the pigs went back in the farmhouse. One the got close to see what was happening in the dinning room. There were pigs and Pilkington and Frederick was also there. Napoleon told them his story of how he gave less food to the animals. He also mentioned that this farm is no longer called Animal Farm, it is called The Manor Farm. They had their toast, sat down, and continue the card game. The animals were wondering what they were talking about, but they left after the pigs and men sat down. Then a loud noise was herd and the animals ran back to see what happened. Napoleon and Pilkington had an ace of spade. The entire animals saw were men and pigs. Then even truly couldn’t tell the difference .   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  This story I enjoyed very much. It had a twist in the end I did not suspect. Totally threw me off. I think if you were a person who likes twists this would be a good book to read.

Q1: What micro environmental factors affected the introduction and re-launch of the Toyota Prius? How well has Toyota dealt with these factors? Firstly, the company has spent a lot of money on the re-launch of the new and improved Prius model which is over 40 million dollars. On the same note it was also able to generate a profit represented by a 120% rise in the sales after some time of the re-launch. Starting off with the main objectives of the company to provide a new and technology product to the target market it was able to cover its operating and marketing costs and also make build a profitable customer relationship. Secondly, the agents helped promote the new brand hybrid. Since the company did not want to take any chance for interpretation of the features of Prius, they did not offer online purchase facility to customers. Thus, Toyota hired agents and provided professional training to them to provide maximum customer satisfaction. Thirdly, the company’s main target was those customer who were ‘techies’ and were ready to buy the product at its launch. The company made sure that their focused customers were well informed before the products launch i. e. 2 years before. Then, the company’s marketing strategies also included taglines with emotions which were very effective in its promotion. In summer 2004, the gasoline prices rose so the demand for Prius increases and so did the waiting lists. Toyota tried its best to cover the entire demand but still left some customers unsatisfied. Later on, it overcame this problem by a 33% and then a 100% rise in the monthly production. But the extensive and large scale advertising campaign and strong, overall marketing strategies helped Toyota to gain the competitive edge over them as well as the rest of the smaller rivals. Then, the incentive provided by the government of tax deduction also helped but the increase in the speed limit was a hindrance for Toyota which was also covered by the heavy marketing strategies. With respect to the economic factors, the case shows that the customer had enough income to spend on this luxury. This is shown by the fact that the company was able to sell 1800 cars in immediately and also had to raise the monthly production level by 33% and then even by 100% to meet the demand. Toyota is an â€Å"environmentally concerned† company since it had greater fuel efficiency and lower emissions. It also took advantage from the environmental appeal by spending out green seed cars shaped like Toyota’s logo to prospective buyers on Earth Days. The technological factor is explained by the many factors including adding cruise control by some wiring, dashboard display screen, playing video games, installing sniffer, 7-inch energy monitor, a CD player holding 6 discuses at a time and many more. Since the customers favored technological products and had enough knowledge Toyota was able to maintain customer loyalty. Politically, the company received support from the government in the form of tax deductions which helped efficient production but on the same note the speed limit factor acted as a hindrance but was covered by extensive marketing campaigns.

But no everyone knows that traditional shoe polish which are available in market made of harmful chemical and synthetic ingredients which has a bad door. Since it uses petroleum as it’s basis it is also flammable which makes it dangerous to human health and may cause some hazards like fires. The banana peel is known for its antifungal and antibiotic properties. The peel is also loaded with a lot of Vitamins, minerals and fiber Many articles and pamphlets say that banana peel is even effective in shining and smoothening surfaces like shoes made up of leather. There are many advocacies promoting environment preservation and restoration. This may help in these advocacies. Because the main ingredient was just banana peel so that will lessen the production of biodegradable garbage.And also,the product will cost lesser than those of commercial because only the tools and some additives are need to be bought, so we can assume convenience to those who will buy our product. It may also emit the old tradition of just throwing banana peel instead they can collect it and donate for us to transform it into a more useful and effective product which happen to be the banana floor polisher. When used correctly it adds visual interest and detail and can emphasize a particular mood or feeling. As texture is often related to the feeling of an something it can, at times, make a two dimensional piece seem to be three dimensional which, in the case of the Red Robin Garden Creations’ website, will attract the eye of potential customers. Three-dimensional images are also more memorable as they can appear to be more life-like and therefore provoke a more emotional reaction from the viewer. In my design, I have not used texture. It is largely two-dimensional and therefore may not stand out to customers, as some other more textural sites will. Bathtub Gin www.bathtubginonline.com is an excellent example of a website which successfully uses texture. It uses multiple layers of texture to build an impression of intrigue and charm. Shading and illumination of the lights make the webpage appear to be three-dimensional. This sets the scene in a way that visitors to the site can identify with the brand. I should have used texture to create dimension in my webpage. Obviously, my skills would not accommodate a website of this level, but I could have used shading, for example, in my banner to make the grass stand out and look slightly more realistic. It can be used to place focus on important information, attract the eye, tie together the layout, or prompt an emotional response. In my website I used mcolour to emphasise the fact that Red Robin Garden Creations is, in fact, a website advertising a gardening company. In the same way that a company which produces juice might have a slightly more orange colour scheme, I used greens and browns to help relate the website back to it’s purpose - providing information about Red Robin’s gardening services. I used coloured borders around the images on the website to place emphasis on them and draw the viewers eye in. The idea of this was that the first thing a potential customer saw when looking at the webpage was an image of the work that Red Robin Garden Creation’s has done. This is advertising what they are capable of in relation to gardening and gives an initial idea of whether or not they provide a service appropriate to your specific needs. Because the same coloured border is on all images on the site, it helps to tie the layout together. Value Value concerns the darkness or lightness of an area. It separates, implies a particular mood, creates a sense of drama and gives the illusion of volume and depth. An example of using value is with the use of a gradient or shading a shape to give it a three dimensional effect. Satisfaction Remote An example of a website which uses the design principle of value is www.satisfactionremote.com. As you can see, the background of this webpage is a gradient ranging from grey to black. In this instance, this suggests a professional mood as its very minimalistic and clean, using primarily only shades of greys and black. The area of the gradient that is lighter attracts the eye to where the text is located and the large, dominant image of an IPhone. This is because they are contrasted against the background. If I was to redesign my website I would use value to give certain aspects of the page more depth. For example, I could have given the items in the banner and logo shadows so they appeared to be standing out against the background. How to Catch up on Your College Classes No matter where you go to college, youll inevitably face a semester (or two) where the workload moves from feeling overwhelming to actually being overwhelming. All of the reading, writing, lab time, papers, and exams- especially when combined with all you have to do for your other classes- becomes too much. Whether you fall behind because you mismanaged your time or because theres no possible way a reasonable person could manage all you were expected to do, one thing is clear: youre behind. What exactly are your options now? Assess the Damage Go through all of your classes- even if you think youre behind in only one or two- and make a quick list of things youve done (example: finished the reading through week three) as well as things you havent (example: started the research paper due next week). Remember, this isnt necessarily a list of what youll need to do next; its just a way to organize what material and assignments youve done and what youve missed. Look Down the Road You dont want to sabotage your own chances at catching up by inadvertently falling further behind. Look at your syllabi for each class for the next 4 to 6 weeks. Which major projects are coming down the pipe? What midterms, exams, or other big assignments do you need to plan for? Are there weeks with bigger reading loads than others, or less? Get a Master Calendar Going If you want to do well in college, youll need a time management system. Theres simply no way around that basic fact. And if youre behind in your classes, youll need some kind of large, master calendar you can use to coordinate your catch-up efforts. So whether its something online, something you print out, or something like a Google calendar, youll need to get something started ASAP. Prioritize Make separate lists for all of your classes–even the ones you arent behind on- about what youll need to do from here. First, look at all that you need to do to catch up (as suggested above). Second, look at all that you need to do in the next four to six weeks (also suggested previously). Pick the top two to three things you absolutely must do for each class. This likely means that all of the work you need to do wont get done, but thats okay: part of being in college is learning how to prioritize when necessary.   Make an Action Plan Take that master calendar you made, grab the list of priorities you created, and introduce them to one another. If, for example, you need to first outline chapters one to six so that you can then write your research paper next week, simply break it down. Which chapter will you do on what day? What is your goal date to complete it? When will you outline your paper, and when will you write it? When will you revise it? Telling yourself that you have to read all of the material before your paper is due is both too nebulous and completely overwhelming. However, telling yourself that you have an action plan and all you need to do is outline chapter 1 today makes it all manageable. When you have a solid plan to get back on track to meet your deadlines, youll be a lot less stressed. Stick With It Youre still behind, after all, which means you have a lot of work to do to make sure you pass your classes. It isnt easy to catch up, but you can do it- if you stick with it. It took more than one day for you to fall behind, which means it will take more than one day to catch up. Stick with your plan and adjust as necessary. As long as you keep your goals in view, remain on track with your calendar, and reward yourself along the way, you should be just fine.
